Reflections

  1. it is relevant to the time we live because the theme you chose is a theme that doesn't really lock into a specific time frame. it is conceptual rather than locational.

you guys did what you wanted to do, and it looks good. the person interactions are a good bonus feature.

maybe more frames? fewer? more people?

  2. 1. The inspiration from Stonehenge was interesting, though I'm still not sure I see it. The effect you mentioned about not knowing whether you're looking through a window or into a mirror was really interesting...it sort of reminded me of our modern time with it's postmodern crisis...we don't know how to see things anymore.

    2. You definitely accomplished your goal here, with the mirror/window thing.

    3. It might have been nice to see more of a variety of location. The lake was nice in some shots, but it would have been cool to see all those mirrors and windows out in a field or in other parts of the woods too. Having a person in there was a nice touch but it would have been nice to make it seem more intentional rather than make it look like she was just wandering through in some shots.

  3. Relevant to time: yes especially all the mirrors and windows kind of like a window and mirror of the life around
Relevant to area: the use of the area is but other than that everything was brought in to the mounds. However, the windows and mirrors do view and reflect the area.
Relevant to earthworks: yes because it combines the surrounding area with the message of what it looks like and how it is viewed
successful aim: yes because they were able to portray the view of the space around them
revisions: maybe focus in more on the views of each window/mirror so that you can see how each piece opens up the idea of the area around better.

  4. it is relevant to the time we live in because the idea of image and looking through something to the see the natural world is something we often do today. it displays different ways that we can see ourselves in nature. it works with the larger tradition of landscapes by innovating and looking at different landscapes by looking at different ways that we look at landscapes and it is nice because it doesn't take away from what is already there. the windows do not cover up any of the nature that is displayed, but only emphasizes what we see behind it. they were definitely successful in the idea that they were hoping to portray.

  5. It's relevant because you guys took the concept of interior design and applied it in an exterior realm. We like the details of the frames with the lines of the trees. It emphasizes the different perspectives and viewpoints that people hold about nature. Aesthetically, the contrast of geometric shapes within nature creates great photos. This project succeeds in making people think about the way in which they approach or view nature. good job! it might have been cool to see pictures from the inside of the frames, looking out at nature, rather than from nature looking in on the frames.

  6. The idea to incorporate a view through and a view reflected off of nature itself is intriguing. The design is very engaging because there are so many things in the picture that attract your eye, such as the window frames and the mirror frames, which provide a stark contrast to the organic-ness of the woods.

Maybe if you were to do this again, hang some mirrors up higher to get different things reflected in them.
